By local author Joan P. Mayer stories of ancestry and life in Clark County KY. Her stories cover her family, especially her parents William Fauntleroy Pursley and her mother Charlotte Bowman Pursley. Her parents were instrumental in the early years of the Iroquois Hunt Club and Ms. Mayer devotes an entire section to the hunt club and its home at historic Grimes Mill. Stories abound of farm life growing up in the 1940s and 50s in Clark County Kentucky. From a rural upbringing to college and becoming the first woman to be named Master of Fox Hounds in the long history of the Iroquois Hunt Club (after serving as Whipper-In for 15 years) Mayer herself has led a colorful and full life.
